Horsetooth Reservoir

Last weekend EcoJoia had the opportunity to visit Horsetooth Reservoir. This beautiful reservoir is 6.5 miles long and sits on an elevation of 5,420 ft west of Fort Collins, Colorado. Surrounding this lake are the foothills where there are many areas to go camping, hiking, fishing, boating. There are cabins for visitors to rent or campgrounds to pitch tents. Many people looking for a fun outdoor vacation or a great place to spend the day come here. This is one of the many perks that makes Colorado so incredible.

On July 1st EcoJoia attended the Rockies baseball game against the Kansas City Royals at Coors Field.  Colorado’s home team the Rockies, played an incredible game as they won 9-0. The game awed fans when Troy Tulowitzki hit two home runs. After the baseball game the fans enjoyed a spectacular firework show.  The crowd was pleased with the fireworks as they lit up the sky. Each year Coors Field puts on a Firework show around the 4th of July. The Rockies and Coors Field bring a big energy into downtown Denver, which is another reason why EcoJoia loves Denver, Colorado.

EcoJoia applauds Denver Voice, a nonprofit street paper that creates jobs for Denver’s homeless and gives them a chance to earn income. This program allows each person to purchase the paper for 25 cents and sell it on a donation bases. The suggested donation is 1 dollar. Denver Voice empowers our homeless and builds social change. As stated by one Denver Voice salesperson, “The Denver Voice helped my wife and I move off the streets.” Great job Denver!

EcoJoia took a trip to visit the Museum of Outdoor Arts (MOA) in Englewood, Colorado. This museum believes in making art exist in everyday life, so their art is displayed in public places for everyone to view.  These art collections are placed throughout the Denver metro area, but their headquarters are located at the Englewood Civic Center.  The MOA was founded in 1981 with 19 art pieces, and now their collection as grown to over 200 pieces.
